Queen's Park Rangers ended their three-game slide on Sunday July 12, winning convincingly and with confidence 5th-placed Knights of Cydonia.
Summer vacations wore the Rangers bench a little thin, meaning that the OPS team could not rely on the usual army of substitutes. Despite this, QPR took the field with determination and tactical discipline.
At the 10th minute mark, Konrad Stypka offered up a great ball for Sergio "El matador de sangre fria" Guillermo who slotted a curling shot passed the opposing goalkeeper who was screened by his own defenders, and could not see it until it was too late.
A few minutes later, QPR doubled their lead with Hadi "Schillaci" Fazli who beat the opposing goalkeeper with an opportunistic diagonal strike.
QPR were determined to return to the W column and scored a marvelous third goal with Soben "Thunder" Thambidurai who saw his hard work in the box pay off scoring his 4th goal of the season.
Truthfully, QPR's goal total would have been higher had the opposing goalkeeper not made a few great saves, the most memorable of which was on Michael "The Stallion" Allison.
In the second half, Knights of Cydonia came out determined to eliminate the deficit, but QPR's defence and Kevin Gocool's goalkeeping was too much on the day.
"Another great performance despite the hot and humid day and the shortened bench. Knights of Cydonia had only lost one game until today: this performance shows what we're capable of, despite the opponent's season record", team captain Rocco Fasano remarked at game's end.
