Allstars vs. Queen's Park Rangers: Match Recap
The Queen's Park Rangers sought to end their season with a
win after week 11's unfortunate loss.
Their adversary was a
skilled but undisciplined Allstars, occupying second last place in Division 3.
The last game of the
regular season is often marked by personnel emergency, and Sunday was no
different.
With the starting and
backup goalkeeper out of the line up, Gocool volunteered to deputize after
Fasano forfeited due to injury in the pregame.
In the opening
minutes, Allstars began asking questions of the QPR defence but found Gocool
responding well.
The icebreaker came
at the half hour mark, with Allstars conceding a penalty due to hand ball in
the box, which Bovdis converted by placing the ball to the goalkeeper's right.
1-0 QPR.
After the break,
Fasano opted for a formation change from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1, flooding the
midfield, where QPR was losing some battles against Allstars dribblers.
The formation change benefited QPR's midfield conceding very little to their opposition in terms of
scoring chances.
At the death, QPR put
the game beyond doubt with Fazli displaying his altruism by teeing up a pass to
Stypka who hammered it past the opposing goalkeeper with the inside of his
right foot.
"It was
important to regain confidence after last week's heartbreaking loss. I am
grateful to those who came out today and played, especially those who played
outside of their comfort zone. Among these I must compliment Gocool on his shutout.
We must use the bye we gained wisely to recuperate our injured players yet
ensure we maintain our physical fitness", remarked QPR captain Fasano
remarked after the match.

NAFC Origami vs. QPR: Match Recap
Queen's Park Rangers took the field on Sunday night to face the only team that defeated them: second place cohabitants NAFC Origami.
With top spot within sight, QPR was determined to make the most of this game and it showed. Observers weren't shocked to see a tight, level match between the two second-place teams, with the first half featuring very little in terms of real scoring chances.
The exception came from the right foot of Aziz - returning from a long pause - who hit the crossbar from a direct free kick.
The second half got on its way with the same deadlocked result, with QPR displaying some good game play. With 15 minutes left, QPR's good work paid off thanks to a soft pass by Bovdis for Aziz who hammered the ball passed NAFC's goalkeeper.
NAFC demonstrated that they were no pushovers and fully deserved their ranking order, mounting pressure on the QPR defense. With five minutes left, NAFC tied the game up following a dubious free kick awarded to them.
A few minutes after the tying goal, NAFC completed their comeback by scoring from a direct free kick taken in magisterial fashion, leaving no chance for QPR's Kang.
"A heartbreaking match, for both the result and how it matured. It's up to us to make the most of the mistakes we made today and not repeat them - that's what champions are made of", said QPR captain Fasano after the match.
